Looking for a job is undoubtedly a time-consuming task. Tailoring a resume to a company and writing a cover letter suitable for a single job can take several hours.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help the user to speed up this process and also optimize the results.  However, it should be noted that AI will not automatically write a perfect job application, as it will need corresponding adjustments from the user to obtain the ideal result.

A study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that candidates who used algorithmic help to write their resumes were 8% more likely to be hired than others.

However, career coaches and HR consultants stress that ChatGPT is a tool with limits and, for the time being, cannot replace the job seeker’s work. In fact, the success of using ChatGPT will depend on the indications provided by the user to this tool.

In short, Artificial Intelligence tools to improve a user’s employability provide a starting point for making a particular resume appealing to recruiters or systems that track candidates. However, it is the user himself who ends up putting the “icing on the cake”.

What can the user ask ChatGPT to improve your CV?

– The user can ask ChatGPT to make any changes to a previous draft. For example, edit the order of merits or highlight keywords.

– ChatGPT can also draft a resume by simply entering personal data and a job description for a job the user wants to apply for.

– The user can also ask ChatGPT what keywords recruiters usually look for or what merits and metrics are most valued for a given position.

– ChatGPT allows the user to enter their Linkedin profile and the chatbot will generate a CV from scratch.

But… What are the steps to follow to obtain a Curriculum Vitae with an Artificial Intelligence?

To begin with and as for any CV, it is necessary to identify the information to apply for the job: personal data, work experience, skills, certifications, achievements, etc.

As for ChatGPT the user must log in to the OpenAI website and start a new application where he/she must enter all the collected information. As mentioned above, the more detailed the information entered by the user the better the CV obtained by the chatbot.

For the AI to adapt the data entered to the possible requirements of the position, it is also essential to describe precisely what are the possible requirements that recruiters may take into account.

Once all the above steps have been completed, this Artificial Intelligence must be instructed to generate the adapted CV. In this way, the chatbot can now create a professional document that matches the job position for which the user decides to apply.

Finally, it is essential to review the generated CV carefully and make any necessary corrections. The user should also keep in mind that the layout of the document should be nice, so you can use the information generated by ChatGPT to enter it into a template in a conventional way.
